Northern Lights Elementary Piano Duets

Northern Lights: An Exploration of Canadian Piano Music: Elementary Piano Duets is a collection of 14 new works, in fixed hand positions, by 15 Canadian composers from coast to coast.  To facilitate the learning process, fingerings and measure numbers have been included.  Students will enjoy seeing photos of the composers with the biographies.

The educational and pedagogical value of playing duets is evidenced in recital performances, festival settings and recreational playing. The team-work provides motivation for practise, improving sight reading, rhythmic precision and reducing performance anxiety. Duet playing enhances many areas of musicianship as well as developing the social aspect of music making.
